"As long as I continue to practice my ideologies, being aware of the science of behavior, the choice between loving and despising individuals becomes an easy one. I choose love." - Samantha Abrams
Dating is tough business. And what makes it even more dangerous are "players" whose intentions are to be questioned. In "The Complete Player", Samantha Abrams takes an in-depth look at not only what we do in relationships but also why.
From my Instagram review:
Let me tell you, Abrams knows what she's talking about. After a relationship went awry, she wanted to know exactly what made up this toxic relationship and how it worked. With in-depth psychology and biology research, she gets right to why some people are 'marks' for players.
Abrams keeps it real. With anecdotes from her own life, she's not here to give you the pep talk so many dating and relationship books out there do. She wants you to be careful and realize the best fulfilling relationship you can find should be with yourself first - everything else is just biology.
That will give you the capacity to love others back in a true way and not in a way of being attached to feelings that are just biology. Some truths revealed can also be applied to other parts of your life such as friendships and how they can be toxic or helpful.
How many other books about why players do the things they do and how those who are vulnerable do what they do are written by someone who's actually lived it?
Looking forward to a second book.

This book was incredibly raw, powerful, insightful, and impactful. I wish I would have read this 10+ years ago when the path I chose was the wrong one. I basically read this book in one sitting as I could not put it down. Not only was the author very vulnerable and open about her experiences, thoughts, emotions, and personal journey she took during her time loving a player, she also incorporated scientific reasoning, research, and facts about the human brain. I definitely will be recommending this book to other strong, independent women who want more insight into why their relationships might not be working out, or just to make them understand how strong they are. There were so many aha moments throughout this book - I highly recommend it!! And I look forward to book #2 by Samantha Abrams!

A family friend recommended "The Complete Player" after some recent relationship difficulties, and all I can say is WOW! Not only was this book an enlightening glimpse into how my behaviors affected the women in my life, and why after turning 45, I was still OK being single. I've used what I've learned to build an honest relationship, based on mutual trust and affection, that is working to change the cyclical pattern I may have been doomed to repeat had I not read this book.
I say again, WOW. Just WOW.

This book uses straight forward language to describe intricate brain chemistry and it’s impact on relationships and sex. Many of the examples and anecdotes are deeply personal and raw ... the author is smart and brave for sharing her worldview.

I just purchased the book and I can’t put it down!! The complete player allows you to look at how you process love and affection. Especially in a deeper aspect where I would have never thought about it- in a molecular and biological sense. I would recommend it to anyone from any background and walk of life!!! Great read!!
